When a mosquito bites you, the situation starts to be very itchy! And no matter how hard you’ll try not to scratch, you will eventually. But your injuries will worsen and you’ll look just like a person with chickenpox.
The good news is that you can relieve itching and pain with some natural remedies. And here are a few strange, but effective ways to get rid of mosquito bites.
1. Banana peel
When mosquito bites start to be painful, treat them with a banana peel. Put a banana peel directly on the bite and tie it with a piece of gauze. After 90 minutes, wash the area, and then you’ll get rid of the burning sensation like magic.
Apply ice on the swollen mosquito bites and wait until the rash disappears. Within a few minutes, the area will be deaden and you won’t feel the pain.
3. Baking soda
Baking powder even helps against all insect bites. Make a paste of baking soda and water then apply it on the affected areas. You can add a pinch of baking soda in a basin with warm water and dip your feet in it.
A pinch of toothpaste on the bite can do wonders. The secret is in fluoride, which acts as a sedative, a powerful natural antihistamine that helps to relieve pain in a few minutes.
Mouthwash can be used on your body, too. Soak a cotton pad in mouthwash and dab the affected areas. Use an antiseptic to protect the area against possible infections.
Maybe you didn’t know about this awkward trick, but mud helps to stop itching caused by mosquito bites. Apply some mud on the inflamed areas and let it dry. Then rinse and the red spots will be almost nonexistent.
Aspirin doesn’t get you rid only of headaches because its anti-inflammatory properties can relieve pain caused by insect bites. Crush an aspirin and mix it with water until it forms a paste. Apply this paste on the inflamed area, tie it with a bandage and leave it overnight. In the morning you’ll be like new.
Apply on the affected area several times a day lavender essential oil. Mix three drops of lavender essential oil with a teaspoon of alcohol and two drops of chamomile essential oil. Dab the affected areas. This mixture is also great for spider bites.
Infuse some marigolds in a liter of boiling water for 5 minutes. Soak 3-4 compresses and apply it on the affected area.
10. Onions and garlic
This remedy is great to get rid of mosquito bite itchiness and also for bee stings. You have to apply onion or garlic on the affected area and rub well. Then wrap well the area with cabbage or parsley leaves and tie it with a piece of gauze.
