7 Natural Remedies To Get Rid Of Sore Throat

Well, is winter and it brings not only jingles and snow, but also a lot of health problems, especially colds, flu and sore throat. You can prevent these winter diseases, how I like to call them, with various natural remedies. So, before calling antibiotics, you should try these natural remedies to relieve colds. Because of an awful sore throat, I end up coughing and couldn’t combat this cough, until I turn on natural remedies. And my throat is as good as new and I stopped coughing. Until the next cold, I presume!

1. Salty gargles

Salt acts as an antiseptic helping to streamline secretions, reduces inflammation and provides an instant relief. Put half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of lukewarm water and gargle at least 4 times a day.

2. Honey

Honey has antibacterial properties that help in healing process. Also, it contributes to streamlining secretions and reduces inflammation. Add 2 tablespoons of honey in a cup of hot water and drink several times a day. You can add it in your favorite tea, too. Take a spoonful of honey before going to bed to soothe sore throats and to have a peaceful sleep, without coughing.

3. Lemon

Take half a lemon, sprinkle salt and pepper over it and try to eat it. Another option is to gargle with diluted lemon juice in an equal amount of warm water. You can prepare lukewarm lemonade with the juice from half a lemon, one tablespoon of honey and a cup of hot water. Or you can cut a lemon in slices, place it in a jar and pour honey over it. Leave it overnight, and there you’ll have your own natural coughing syrup. Take one teaspoon in the morning on an empty stomach and one teaspoon before going to bed. Also, this syrup it’s an immunity booster.

4. Garlic

Known for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, garlic has beneficial effects for sore throats. It contains allicin which helps killing bacteria. If you can’t consume it in its natural form, you can take garlic capsules.

5. Cinnamon

Mix one cinnamon stick with a little pepper and boil them in two cups of water for several minutes. Strain the liquid and add a spoonful of honey. Drink while it’s hot, once a day for one week. You can mix a few drops of cinnamon oil with one tablespoon of honey. Consume this mixture twice a day to relieve pain and inflammation.

6. Turmeric

It has powerful antiseptic properties. Add a quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of warm water. Mix well and drink it in the morning on an empty stomach, once a day for three to four days.

7. Fenugreek

For gargling, add two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in six cups of water and boil them for about half an hour. After reaching room temperature, filter the liquid and drink it three to four times a day. Fenugreek helps dissolve mucus and relieve pain and inflammation.
